No Mow May at Just Luv It

Why Letting the Grass Grow is so Important, Simple Ways to Support our Pollinators, and our Upcoming May Events

May is one of our favourite months here at Just Luv It. That promise of spring that we felt in March and April is becoming real, and everything feels full of life again as the gardens are waking up all around us, and the pollinators are getting busy – we just luv it.

No Mow May

We’re once again throwing ourselves into No Mow May, because in 2025 we saw just how fabulous it is for garden life. Last year, Andrea let the garden grow a little wild, and it didn’t take long for nature to respond! Wildflowers popped up, the bees and butterflies moved in, and then came some very unexpected visitors: a small group of sheep who wandered in and happily tucked into the feast available! When we give nature a little bit of breathing space, it is just beautiful to watch what happens, and sometimes it will surprise you as well!

Leaving your lawn to grow, even just a little bit, creates vital habitats for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. These tiny helpers are essential for our ecosystems, and they need all the support they can get.

You don’t need a big garden or lots of time to make a difference, and a few small changes can have a big impact.

Simple Ways to Support Pollinators this May

• Leave some (or all) of your lawn to grow. Even a small patch can become a haven.
• Hold off mowing until June. Let daisies, clover, and dandelions bloom naturally.
• Add a simple water source – a shallow dish with pebbles gives pollinators a safe place to drink.
• Plant pollinator-friendly flowers – lavender, salvia, foxgloves, and alliums are great choices and are so beautiful too.
• Create a little shelter – a quiet corner, log pile, or bug hotel are great sanctuaries for your garden wildlife.

After taking April to recharge, we are hitting the ground running this May, and we can’t wait to be back out at the events we’re booked to attend, and meeting you all again. We’ll be showcasing our latest range of ethical gifts, ethically-made garden and homeware, and sustainable garden gifts – all handmade with care, using sustainable materials and thoughtful design, and sourced from some fascinating and wonderful communities from all over the world.
